Hiking & walking

Freycinet National Park on Tasmania's east coast offers world-class hiking, from short walks to iconic lookouts to multi-day circuits. Key trails include the 2.6 km Wineglass Bay Lookout walk, the 11 km Wineglass Bay and Hazards Beach loop, and the steep, challenging climb up Mount Amos.

Popular Day Walks

  • Wineglass Bay Lookout: A 2.6 km return track (approx. 1.5 hours) up stone steps and well-graded paths to a stunning view over Wineglass Bay.
  • Wineglass Bay and Hazards Beach Loop: An 11 km circuit (approx. 4 hours) continuing from the lookout down to the white sands of Wineglass Bay, across an isthmus, and back via Hazards Beach.
  • Mount Amos: A 3.6 km steep, challenging return hike over bare granite slabs that requires scrambling and good grip (avoid when wet).
  • Cape Tourville Lighthouse: An easy, fully accessible 600m coastal boardwalk with expansive ocean views.
